See Art's reply about using SysCmd. I didn't "grok" your need to use the Access Status Bar when I first replied. The Current event might work. But if you have multiple forms open at the same time and the user can switch forms, then you'll also need to use the Form's GotFocus or Activate events.

Why not just display the Navigation Buttons?
Or, you could try in a text box in the header or footer:
