[MS_AccessPros] Marking Group of records

I have 2 tables in a one to many relation. tbl_Items (Many side) holds data about the Item (Barcode#, Collection Name, Call#, pub date, etc) and tbl_Manifest (the One side) has just a ManifestNumber field.

After I get through filling the specific box with Items, there could be between 10 and 50, I need to save that group of records and mark them with a Manifest Number that will be a Concatenation of the ManifestNumber field from the manifest table, which is a auto-sequential number, and the CollectionName abbreviation field from the items table.

What I don't know how to do is to mark the group of records with a specific Manifest Number and save that for future retrieval. I was thinking of having the user click a button that would open the Manifest form. That form would have the Manifest Number field conactenated with the CollectionName abbreviation and a Save button of some sort, but there probally would be some code behind it to do the marking and saving.

I can create the Query on which to base the Report, but marking the specific group of records is what I'm stuck on. I may be able to even figure out how to get the Manifest form to open with the concatetenated ManifestNumber, but may have questions on that, as well.

Thanks for any help or advice.

John
