I was successfully doing some other things in the Open Event and did not realize it was occurring before a record was loaded. But as I look at what I was doing in the Open Event, I think can see that those actions can be done before a record is loaded since those actions are related to controls and not to the data. I fell into one of the pitfalls of just copying someone else's code and not truly understanding the "why" of the code and the "why" of the event choice.
the only action I was successfully doing in the Open Event that was related to data, was setting a default value. And I can understand how that can be done in Form Open since it does not change any data field until a new record is initiated.
Again, thank you. This is a painful learning process and without your help it would be insurmountable.
