I'm stuck on trying to solve the issue I asked about in earlier posts [New Record in Subform]; [Need Help; Offering x/64" formatting code]. My apologies if I'm violating group standards by multiple postings. I've been away from active conversations on the list for quite some time.
the latest of my uploads to the "Assistance Needed" folder is TableBedDB_6.mdb .
The three forms connect to tables with information at three levels of detail.
The first has, for each order-able part #, what it represents in terms of bed type, size, style, and wood.
Wood type values are ignored for the second and third level of detail.
The second form identifies the modules that go into making a particular type, size, and style in an order.
(for instance, a common style is "headboard only").
Modules include headboards, two types of footboards, etc.
The third form identifies the individual pieces of wood that go into a module.
It's the one for which I'm having trouble getting data entry to work the way I want.
I'd like to get the 3rd form to work in a similar fashion to the 2nd, but need SOME way that's easy for the user
to enter new records with pre-selected values for Type, Size, Style and Module.
Another thought:
a 5th drop-down in the main form, selecting a [Piece] value. Once selected, a button for "generate a new record and refresh what's displayed in the sub-form"
Does this sound workable, or would some other approach be better?
