[MS_AccessPros] Re: Link to a spreadsheet or create a table

Since the new list can have new patrons as well as updated information, you should import the spreadsheet so you can run queries to check for missing or changed data.

I will periodically get a list of all voters in our jurisdiction in the form of an Excel spreadsheet. I use it to compare with a table of Patrons and populate a field in the Patrons table with the identifier number in the Voter Registration table.

I was going to just link the spreadsheet and then copy over the new spreadsheet when it arrives. I see that I can't designate the identifier number field as a primary key (or anything else) as long as it is a linked spreadsheet.  I suspect I am over thinking this but is there any advantage to uploading the data to a table?  I would have additions, deletions, and address changes (within the jurisdiction) with any new spreadsheet.

Thoughts?

Thanks
