[MS_AccessPros] Link to a spreadsheet or create a table

 

I will periodically get a list of all voters in our jurisdiction in the form of an Excel spreadsheet. I use it to compare with a table of Patrons and populate a field in the Patrons table with the identifier number in the Voter Registration table.


I was going to just link the spreadsheet and then copy over the new spreadsheet when it arrives. I see that I can't designate the identifier number field as a primary key (or anything else) as long as it is a linked spreadsheet.  I suspect I am over thinking this but is there any advantage to uploading the data to a table?  I would have additions, deletions, and address changes (within the jurisdiction) with any new spreadsheet.


Thoughts?
