Re: [MS_AccessPros] Recordset is not updatable

John,

Well we have decided to upgrade out front-end and backend to Access 2013 and we will be moving the backend to SQL Server.

John,

If that's the case I am wondering why it was working up fine up to yesterday. I am starting to wonder if a MS update was applied which effected it. I am going to check into the latest updates.

Art-

AH!  So the back end must be 2013 format.  That would lead me to believe that 2010 can open 2013 back end, but it'll be read-only.

John,

Found out something interesting. If I run the front-end on a ACCESS 2013 desktop it works fine and I can add and modify records as usual.

Yes I tried both ways, deleting the link and re-adding it and also created a new database and added the link tables and it did the same thing. I looked and there is no .laccdb file open.

Have you tried deleting the linked table and re-linking it?  Is that what you meant by "refreshing" the links?

If the answer to both questions above is yes, it sounds like the front end is linking to the back end as read-only.  If so, are there other users who have the database open?  When nobody is in the database, is there still a .laccdb file hanging around in the back end folder?  If so, try deleting that file.

Are you opening a linked table or a query?  If a query, what's the SQL?

John,
I can open the backend and edit data directly but if I open a table from the frontend I cannot edit and on the status bar it says This Recordset  is not updateable. No error message.

What sort of error messages are you getting?  Can you open the back end directly and update data?

I have a Access 2010 database that for some reason has become un-updatable through the front-end. It was working fine yesterday. I ran the compact and repair on both sides. I tried refreshing the links too but to no avail.

Any ideas why this would happen?

Pretty darn, confused!
