Jane-
Application.FollowHyperlink works just fine for me in 2010 in a desktop
database. I did get a warning message about opening the external file. If
you have SetWarnings False, the user would never see the dialog, and you'd
get an error in your code indicating that the FollowHyperlink failed.

Subject: [MS_AccessPros] FollowHyperlink problem in Access 2010
Hi All
I have a database written in Access 2003. On one of the forms there is a
text field which just contains a filename & path. When the user
double-clicks the field it opens the file using whatever is the default
application on that PC.
So on the double-click event I check the file exists using DIR & then use:
application.hyperlink me!filename
where filename could be
s:\Invoice 123.doc
i:\Drawings\123-ABC V5.pdf
On the PCs that are running access 2003 and 2007 it opens the file. However
we now have a couple of new PCs running Access 2010. The rest of the
database runs fine, but nothing happens when it gets to the
application.followhyperlink line- no errors, crashing etc - it just does
nothing!
Does Access 2010 not support this anymore?
Many thanks
Jane
