Re: [MS_AccessPros] Error Management in CONTACTS Database

David-

<sigh>

There's a long-standing bug in Access 2007 that prevents successfully rebuilding the link to a back end table that has a "complex" field in it.  In the Contacts database, the tblContacts table has a field called Photo that is Attachment data type - a complex type.  It would also fail on any table that has a multi-value field.  One workaround is to simply delete the tblContacts linked table and either re-link it "by hand" or import it from the back end.  You could also open one of the later tables in Design view - like tblInvoices - and open the table properties window to look at the Description property.  That will show you where tblContacts needs to be to continue to use it as a linked table.  I think it's originally in:

C:\Microsoft Press\Access 2007 Inside Out\

If you're using a later version of Access, and it's still failing, then they never fixed the bug.

OH! OK.  I imported just your frmTemplate into my own database and used your form error code on several of my form On Error events. That explains why I could not find any of those error codes in any of the searches I was doing when I was trying to figure out how to correct the VBE error.  I did not realize that you had substituted  customized "word errors" for error numbers. I wondered why it was, that in my searching I could only find references to error numbers and no references to errCancel, etc.  DUH

Regarding the CONTACTS database, I am unable to get it to run because apparently it is expecting the tables and Excel files to be in a certain location.  I have tried to place the FE and BE both in a nested folder called
...\Access\Training\SampleDatabases\Viescas
I have been unable to successfully link the FE to BE so far.  Will this only run in a certain folder?
