RE: [MS_AccessPros] HELP unrecognized database format

It sounds like it is toast. If possible, try opening it using Access 2010. If you don't have that I might be able to help if you can send me the zipped file. Depending on its size, you might have to upload it to my website storage. I can give you a link in  a private email if that's what you want to do.

EverythingAccess.com does a good job of recovering data from a corrupt database, but they do charge for the service.

Regards,

Bill

yes,

I tried linking the tables and importing to Excel. I get the same message 'unrecognized database format'.

Can you open a new database and link to the tables? Or maybe open an Excel sheet and under the Data tab, try to connect to one of the tables?

I get the following message when trying to open an Access 2003 back end db:

'Unrecognized database format'.

The database contains tables and data only.

I have tried compact and repair, importing the tables to a new blank database, but no matter what I try, I get the same message:.'Unrecognized database format'.

I downloaded 'basCompactUtility.bas' from WRMOSCA , but it also gives me the same message.

Is there any utility to repair this db?. The customers last backup is from August (!!!).

Thanks for all advice

Sarah
