My switchboard is always open maximized with buttons on the left. Those buttons load subforms on the left side of the switchboard. There is a sample called StartupFormfor MDE in our Files > _Samples folder. While that one is not maximized you can see what it looks like.
There is also a way to move a form to the top, left corner, but sizing it to one fifth of teh Access window is not worth your effort. Users's resolution differences make that a futile act.
To move a form:
Private Sub PlaceMe()
'Purpose : Move form to top left of MDI
'DateTime : 2/12/2008 13:07
'Author : Bill Mosca
Me.Move 0, 0
End Sub
Private Sub Form_Load()
Call PlaceMe
End Sub
