Auto signatures sometimes end up at the bottom of the thread. Don't know why, but I've seen it happen many times.

Bill

Hi Kevin,
I would suggest using text if you run out of possibilities with Long Integer. While decimal can handle bigger numbers, VBA does not support that data type except with a variant.
To extend the AutoNumber possibilities ... when you start reaching the limit for positive numbers, use the negative numbers
Use an append query to add a record with value = -2,147,483,648 then compact and repair the database. This should make Access use the negative numbers automatically.

crystal

What if the auto key number reach this limit? What do you normally do for handling this problem? As a tour company, we have many requests to send to the suppliers every day, I am afraid this limit will be reached in few years... Thanks.

Kevin

Does this mean the largest auto key number is the same as 2,147,483,647? Thanks
Kevin

Kevin-
The largest number you can store in a Long Integer is 2,147,483,647. If you need to store bigger integers, use Decimal.

Dear All,
I have a number filed in Long Integer. My problem is that this field doesn't allow me to input more than 10 digits. What I have to do? Thanks in advance.
