Re: [MS_AccessPros] Unwanted grouping

I stand corrected. I was looking at the "Desktop Product Inventory Database" that, when you open it up, clearly is NOT a "desktop" database - it's a web app! In a regular desktop database, you CAN modify the Layout just as Graham mentions below. My original statement stands for a Web App database. Calling that a "desktop" template is a bug.

Hi Robin

The instructions I gave you should work for Access 2013.

Select the "ARRANGE" ribbon tab under "FORM DESIGN TOOLS"

Select any of the grouped controls.

Click "Remove Layout" (this is in the "Table" group on the left of the
ribbon, fourth button from the left)

Cheers,
Graham

PS: I'll attempt to include a screenshot, but I don't know if you'll be able
to see it or not:

Thanks John,

In Design View after I click the 'Arrange' tab the 'AutoFormat' option is
nowhere to be seen. I am using Access 2013 perhaps this is different as
mentioned by Graham.

Robin

Robin-

You have to select one of the controls in the layout first, then click the
Arrange tab. On the far left is the AutoFormat group. Next is the Control
Layout group, and the button you want is third from the left - Tabular /
Stacked / Remove. Click Remove.

In Design view I can get as far as ""On the "Arrange" ribbon "" - and
cannot find a 'remove layout' option.

Hi Robin

the Â"featureÂ" is called a Â"layoutÂ". In design view, select the
offending controls, then on the Â"ArrangeÂ" ribbon, near the left, click on
Â"Remove LayoutÂ".

I have managed to build a form and I have finished up with s ix of the
labels and fields enclosed in a broken line which is preventing me
change the positions of two fields.

What is this grouping called? How did I happen to win it? How do I remove
it?

Many thanks,

Robin happle
