Patty,

When you state "a bunch of types of visits that I do not need to show" it means you need some way to store this in data. IMO, maintaining a complex query is a bad idea particularly when you are creating expression on a descriptive field like this. I would either add a column to the reason table that identifies which records to exclude or create a new table that provides the functionality. 

WHEN your "bunch" changes, you simply edit data, not an expression in a query. Assume you will be modifying the reasons and save yourself a future headache.
