Open your table in Design view, select both fields by holding down the Shift key as you click, then click the Primary Key button.
To get a count of cartons, group on CartonNo only.

I got something making a separate field for suffix and having its default value 0, You said "That would make the Primary Key of the table two fields, but that's easy to do." and also said that's easy to do. But how ?
For example as you are saying:
CartonNo Suffix Product
1 0 ABC
1 1 DEF
1 2 GHI
Would give the count of Carton No. 1 as ONE?
Please explain & guide.
