I've seen this posted by other people in several forums. Seems to be an Access 2010 bug caused by a Windows Update, but no one has pinned down the exact one as far as I know. Others have said that rebooting the computer seems to fix it, but I haven't tried that yet. Jane's method is probably your best bet. Or if all you have is one control with an expression you can make the result show by setting focus on the control.

I've had something similar with calculated controls (ie =SUM()) at the bottom of some of my forms. I've not been able to replicate it on my development machines, but many of my users have the problem.
I now put
me.recalc on the On Open event and the On apply filter event of all my forms & that seems to fix it.
