Hi everyone - thanks for allowing me to join your Access group. I have what I hope is a simple question. I'm creating a database of song titles of my favorite artists, but it will have at least 40 fields in all, pretty comprehensive, so I want to create more than one table - to prevent having one large table that might not be as easy to use. But I would like to have the primary key be SONG ID (autonumber) and include it the four auxiliary tables that I'm creating as well as the master table (plus copyrights table, recordings table, etc.).
Question is I want to be able to work with these different tables independently of the others by filling in missing information. I just need to have the SONG ID and SONG TITLE appear in all the tables as a major reference point when I create a DATA ENTRY FORM FOR THE VARIOUS TABLES. The problem I'm having, for example, is that when I create a Master Song Table that contains titles, authors and such and then create a table for copyrights that has referential integrity (primary key as SONGID in master and SONGID in copyrights table as FOREIGN KEY), it will allow me to create MANY copyrights for the same song - I want just one, so can I do a ONE TO ONE relationship instead of a ONE TO MANY? I'm confused, but I guess I'll eventually figure it out by continuing to experiment.
