John you are my hero......
I was able to move my Access 2013 file over to my old computer with Access 2010 open and save it.... works fine....
Now I need to buy a fourth computer as the old one is slower than dirt. Slower than I can stand..... and then figure out how to move office from one machine to another... and vow not to use Access 2013 again....
Sad that Microsoft is making it so hard that we look for ways to downgrade from the latest versions
Take care,
Michael

Oh, sorry. I misread your question. I know you cannot downgrade from 2010 to 2007. Once you open a .accdb in 2010 and edit forms or reports that have layouts, you cannot re-open in 2007. I don't know about 2013-2010. Are you able to open a desktop database created in 2013 in 2010? The key would be to see if you can edit forms and reports.John Viescas, AuthorMicrosoft Access 2010 Inside OutMicrosoft Access 2007 Inside OutMicrosoft Access 2003 Inside OutBuilding Microsoft Access ApplicationsSQL Queries for Mere Mortals(Paris, France)

Michael-I'm still using 2007 (a much more stable release, IMO), so can't help you with samples. That's very strange that it will open a .accdb but not the .accde. In general, you should build the database in the same version as is being used on the machine. It might be a bug in the Runtime for 2013. But if you have (or have had) 2010 on the test machine, that could be the problem trying to open a .accde created in 2013.John Viescas, AuthorMicrosoft Access 2010 Inside OutMicrosoft Access 2007 Inside OutMicrosoft Access 2003 Inside OutBuilding Microsoft Access ApplicationsSQL Queries for Mere Mortals(Paris, France)

John -Specific error is:"This database is in an unrecognized format. The database may have been created with a later version of Microlsoft Access that the one you are using. Upgrade your version of Microsoft Access to the current one, then open this database."I installed service pack 1 on the test computer, uninstalled Runtime and reinstalled Runtime...with no changes.....At this point I almost want to depreciate my program to Access 2010 and see if that helps... to be honest more often than not I regret upgrading to Access 2013 from 2010. Only did the upgrade because I bought a new computer....Actually that is a thought, I'll try getting my old computer out of storage and see if a 2010 Access file (ACCDE) will run...Again ACCDB files will run on the test computer, ACCDE files will not....Take care,

Michael-Do not rename the .accde. "Will not run" isn't very explanatory. What happens?
