Moving 2010 to another computer might not be as easy as you think. An Office license can only be used for one PC and a second mobile device such as a laptop. I'd check with Microsoft support first to see if they will grant you another license key.
Also, a slow computer is usually just due to too many programs installed that automatically check for updates. Try these steps to see if you can increase your speed.
- Remove all programs that you thought you needed but never use. The more disk space you have the faster your computer will be.
- Move data files such as music and images to an external drive. Again, free up disk space.
- Install and run CCleaner (Piriform.com freeware). Run both the cleaner and the registry cleaner functions.
- Install and run Defraggler (also a Piriform.com freeware).
- uninstall Real player, Quicktime player, iTunes and all other media players until you are down to just the Windows Media player.
- You should have 4 Gb of RAM and a decent video graphics card.
- in addition to whatever virus scanner you have, install Malware Bytes free version and run a full scan.
I did that on my private PC which is about 12 years old. There was a huge improvement!
