I have several computers,

1) main computer - Access 2013

2) test computer - Runtime 2013

3) old computer - Access 2010

I made a test ACCDE file in 2010 format and it works fine on the Runtime machine...

Is it possible to downgrade my Application to the 2010 format?

I'm still using 2007 (a much more stable release, IMO), so can't help you with samples.

That's very strange that it will open a .accdb but not the .accde. In general, you should build the database in the same version as is being used on the machine. It might be a bug in the Runtime for 2013. But if you have (or have had) 2010 on the test machine, that could be the problem trying to open a .accde created in 2013.

I installed service pack 1 on the test computer, uninstalled Runtime and reinstalled Runtime...
with no changes.....

At this point I almost want to depreciate my program to Access 2010 and see if that helps... to be honest more often than not I regret upgrading to Access 2013 from 2010. Only did the upgrade because I bought a new computer....

Actually that is a thought, I'll try getting my old computer out of storage and see if a 2010 Access file (ACCDE) will run...

Again ACCDB files will run on the test computer, ACCDE files will not....

When compiled I add exe to the file name so that I can quickly tell that I am working with a complied version.

Again the problem I have is that the ACCDE file will run on my machine with Access installed...But not on one with Runtime

The ACCDB file will run on both machines without an issue....

I have reinstalled runtime and tried a third computer as well, in addition to making a small test database with the same results....

I would like to get a small ACCDE file from someone else to try and see if that changes behavior...

Can someone upload a compiled sample (exe) file of a small database so that I can continue testing to try and locate the problem
