Re: [MS_AccessPros] ACCESS 2010 FE/BE Server Issues!!!!

Matt-

Please explain "Company B has to be linked to Server B then routed to Server A".  The links in the front end copies at Company B should be directly to a share on the server where the back end resides - i.e. directly to the server A.  I'm having a hard time picturing how a link gets rerouted from one server to another - at least for a standard back end Access (.accdb) file.  You can do that with SQL Server, but not with Access.

Set-up:

Access 2010

Companies: A and B

Servers: A and B

Currently have a database split into a FE/BE configuration where FE is on the local C: drive of the clients computer. The BE resides in a shared folder on Server A where Company A has direct link to. ALL FE's are linked to this BE. Company B has to be linked to Server B then routed to Server A to access the BE. All clients have read/write permissions to Server A folder and database.

Issues:

When Company B opens their FE access "times out" and causes a Not Responding error. I have created a hidden form which on start up connects to the BE and stays connected. Company A has no problems opening up FE and accessing data.

What am I doing wrong? I've had to recreate my BE due to some corruption issues when opening up the FE from Company B on Server B.

PLEASE HELP!!! I only have a few days with Company B to get this working. Thank you all for any support.

Matt
