You do have a habit of asking questions which are
either difficult or uncomfortable
In my last contract I encountered a team that always used
the "old" SQL Server "driver". It worked
and they didn't have to worry about it as there
wasn't much going on other than SELECT, UPDATE, DELETE.
The advantage of using a native client would be that you get
more support for features in the supported SQL Server
Version... but it does raise the possible problem of making
sure the right version of the "SNAC" is installed.
I haven't done or seen any benchmarks but I also
haven't really noticed any performance differences when
switching to "SNAC" so I am going to stick my neck
out and suggest you continue to use the SQL Server driver.
Just make sure the connection string is configurable, just
in case
Yours,
Andrew
