Re: [MS_AccessPros] Better structure maybe?

The note table are pretty standard across each field.

Eg.

UnitNotes
UnitNoteID  PK
UnitID         FK back to Unit table
Subject
Description
CategoryID  FK to NoteCategory lookup table
Photo          Image if applicable
EmployeeID FK to Employee table
LogTime

this is the standard layout for each of the note tables
 ExteriorNotes
ExteriorNoteID  PK
UnitID         FK back to Unit table
Subject
Description
CategoryID  FK to NoteCategory lookup table
Photo          Image if applicable
EmployeeID FK to Employee table
LogTime

And so on and so forth. There can be many notes per primary table

So the Unit table can have multiple records in the UnitNote table.

Art-

What is the relationship between the two sets of table? For example, are
there many records in UnitNotes for each Note record, or just one? What
fields are in the "notes" tables?

Subject: [MS_AccessPros] Better structure maybe?

I have a database with the following tables:

Unit
Exterior
Structure
Utilities
...

Along with these table I have the following tables that include notes and
images about each of the primary tables:
UnitNotes
ExteriorNotes
StructureNotes
UtilitiesNote
...

As I was going through this I am thinking there has to be a better design
than separate note tables for each of the primary tables. Any thoughts?

Thank you
