Interesting question about the locking issue. When I open his ldb file in notepad, he has chinese or korean text instead of his computer name like everyone else. IT says that his applications are not configured correctly and never had a solution. Could this be the problem?

Does it happen every time or could it be a locking issue? Does #1 have the same version number of Access as #3? I forget where MS buried the version number in 2007. In 2010, it's under File>Help.
