We have a utility that I built for Access 2003. It's in Files>UtilitiesAddins and called ShowUserRoster3.4

It gives you the ability to see who is in the database if you are using User Level Security. It also gives you a way to lock out more people from logging in and can send a message to the current users asking them to log out.

But if you are not using ULS, everyone is logged in as Admin. You can still see each one so that would give you a count.
