RE: [MS_AccessPros] Security Changes between Access97 and Access2010

Clive-

Ah, completely ignored the "Security" aspect. User-level security for .mdb
files is not supported for .accdb. You'll have to keep it as a .mdb file.

Clive-

I would convert it to 2003 format first and compile it there to discover any
incompatibilities. Then test it in 2003. Finally, open it in 2010 and
compile the VBA project again - save and compact, then give it to your
client. Note that 2013 no longer supports the mdb format, so you could
consider converting it to .accdb in 2010 before handing it back to the
client.

Hi All,

I need help to set up the security when converting from an Access_97 split
FE/BE database to Access_2010.

My client has upgraded to Office2010 for Word, Excel etc.(except for Access)
on WindowsPro.XP_SP3.

Q1. Can the Db remain in Access97 or is better to
convert it to Access_2003 first?
(I prefer the Access2003 debug facilities.)

Q2. If I keep it as a .mdb file can I still run the
existing VBA code?

Q3. Are there any other tips that you can give?

I possess John Viesca's 'Access2007 Inside Out' book.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Regards, Clive(Williams)
