RE: [MS_AccessPros] Bugs in Access 2010

Jim-

Adding to what John asked...

Does the user's machine have the latest Office updates? Is the version and build
the same as your boss's Access?

Regards,

Bill

Jim-

Two questions:

1) What is the error on the "user" machine?

2) What are the differences between the "user" machine and th "boss"
machine?

Subject: [MS_AccessPros] Bugs in Access 2010

Hello all,

Here is the deal, we support 77 databases, many departments and many users.
We experience bugs all the time as far as we are concerned yet there is
really no real answers and they are not explainable.

For example a user complained that a macro with several queries was not able
to produce a result of any kind and therefore came to my boss and I for
support. My boss ran the macro on her own desktop. The macro and all
subsequent queries ran without incident. Yet the user wanted the macro and
queries fixed. Others can run the macro without issues. Yet the user wants
it fixed. Our Boss also wants it fixed. It is really difficult to fix
something that is really not broken in the database.

My boss rebuilt the macro and the queries, ran the macro on her machine in
front of the user and it worked. The user went to her desk and the macro
failed. The database is on a shared network drive. My boss then tried to
open it and run the macro and it worked without problems, in front of the
user. The user then went back to her desk and the macro failed for her.

Now Our boss wants answers. My boss has asked that I ask the user group to
weigh in on this topic. We have seen other bugs that we cannot explain to
users and they are getting tired of the problems. The bugs are not so
prevalent that it is every day occurrences. It is like a plane crash in the
media. It is made to be a big deal, yet thousands are killed or hurt in car
crashes every day, and the media does not so much as air them.

If anyone can give an answer to satisfy users and upper management of known
and unknown bugs would be helpful to keeping the peace.

Thank You For all messages
