RE: [MS_AccessPros] Preventing movement to a new record when using a Combo box in header

Olusesan-

That's what we're here for!

Yes, when you set the tab order for the form, you can set it to go to controls on the form, but if you have a Tab control, then that's probably the last control in your tab order. Within a Tab on the Tab control, you can only set the order for controls on that tab.

John,

Terrific! You are more than a blessing. The power of a forum is just inexplicable. I have learnt so much from visiting various forums on MS Access and reading problems others have encountered.
I set the cycle property and that sorted out the movement between records.

I had attempted to set the next control for the last control on the first "page" tab but ran aground when I discovered the controls listed in the "tab order property box" when I select a page are limited to only the available controls on that page.

Am I leaving something out here?

Oluesan-

Did you check your keyboard settings? Also check the Tab Order for your controls and make sure that the "next" control after the last one on the first "page" (tab) is the first control on the second tab. And finally, set the Cycle property of your form to Current Record.

Thank you John.
I have a form that has multiple pages. I made a combo box in the header section to show me a specific record based on some previous data for providers I have entered into the database. Once I complete the daa entry on the first tab (page) and I hit enter, rather than move to the next tab, a new record for the first page comes up. I dont want that to happen so I want to limit the visibility/ data entry capacity to the record I select in the combo box.

Dear Olusesan-

Welcome to the group!

Please explain in more detail what you mean by multiple pages. Are you using
the Page Break control on a very long form, or are you using a Tab control? As
for what happens when you press Enter, take a look at how you have your keyboard
options set. In 2003 and earlier, it's in Tools / Options. In 2007 and later,
it's in Access Options / Advanced / Editing. The default for Move After Enter
is Next Field, but if you have it set to Next Record, then that's your problem.

box in header

Hi Everyone,

I am new to the group though quite been develoing MS Access databases for a
while.

I ran into a problem while trying to create a form that has multiple pages and
uses a combo box to select a specific record in the form.

Once the data on the first page is inputted and I press enter, the page
automatically changes. I have tried all sorts but not been able to find a
solution.

Is there anyone that has had such challenges in the past in-house?
