[MS_AccessPros] Latest Office 2010 security patch breaks ActiveX controls

 

Hi all

Yet another reason to avoid ActvieX controls. The latest Office 2010 security update breaks controls like the TreeView in Access databases.

To fix the problem, re-register the common control library MSCOMCTL.OCX

Might require using elevated privileges on Windows 7.

Some commands that you can run using Command Prompt might require elevated or administrative privileges. To run these commands, you can use the Run as administrator command:

1.Click the Start button .
2.In the Search box, type command prompt.

3.In the list of results, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Commands
64-bit:
Regsvr32 "C:\Windows\SysWOW64\MSCOMCTL.OCX"

32-bit"
Regsvr32 "C:\Windows\System32\MSCOMCTL.OCX"
