after you export the data to Excel:
1. select data and header row (ctrl-shift-*)(or ctrl-* on numpad)

2. right-click selection and choose --> Copy
3. right-click somewhere else and choose --> Paste Special...
   -- check Transpose on the right side of the dialog box, just above the OK button

this can be done programmatically too

I am producing a result for less computer savvy users and that would
not be acceptable. I need a simple 'click this button' option.
