DateSerial(Year(Date), Int((y - 1) / 3) * 3 + 1, 1)

Gets you the first day of the quarter.

Format(DateSerial(Year(Date), Int((y - 1) / 3) * 3 + 1, 1), "q")

Gets you the quarter number in a "normal" calendar.

Mod(CInt(Format(DateSerial(Year(Date), Int((y - 1) / 3) * 3 + 1, 1), "q")), 4) +
1

Gets you your quarter number with the first quarter starting October 1.

Thank you both for your help! One thing I did forget to mention is when our
Fiscal Year starts, which is October 1, which means this is quarter 3. What
would be the best approach for starting the first quarter at October 1, 2011?
