Re: [MS_AccessPros] Re: [OT] Upgrading to Office 2010

Thanks, Bill! I know nothing about the site except that it came up through
PriceGrabber.com, one of the first places I check. Guess I should search for
reviews or complaints somewhere. There are 1,110 reviews of them on the
PriceGrabber site, and only 16 of them (in the three years they have been on
there) are either neutral or negative with the rest being positive.

I'm thinking I might forget the trial and go with the full version. I just
wanted to see how the interface worked and what kinds of changes had been
made. I have actually switched over to the Mac and am running my Windows and
Access in a virtual machine, which works very well. I have installed a trial
of Office 2011 for Mac and really like the interface for Word and Excel and
thought I might buy it and keep my old Access 2007 as that will be the only
Windows "must have" program left. But despite the slight inconvenience of
working in the virtual machine, I'm thinking that the full Office 2010 Pro
is my best bet. Even found a Mac blog that recommended the same because the
Mac Outlook must really be weak compared to Windows. I don't use outlook any
more, so that won't make any difference. Plus, the Excel Analysis ToolPak
and some Pivot Table features aren't available in the Mac version, and I'll
always wonder about complete VBA compatibility between the two platforms.
And though it's a picky detail, some of the shortcuts I'm used to in Excel
and Word don't appear to have equivalents in the Mac versions.

To hear those of you who are real experts say good things about 2010 gives
me a lot of confidence, too. I really appreciate the comments!
