RE: [MS_AccessPros] Re: Access 2000 files with Access 2010?

PMFJI:

At the risk of stating the obvious, you will, of course, have to install
Office 2010, or at least Access 2010, as well. It's not a part of Windows 7
as you probably realize.

Bill mentions a few minor adjustments. I've had one database convert and run
smoothly under 2010. However, a few of them peed on my shoes before we got
them fully housebroken. The more "bog-standard" your databases are, the more
likely they are to convert smoothly. If you've done a lot of fancy coding,
used a lot of ActiveX controls, etc., it may not be so easy. Your mileage,
in other words, will vary.

Thanks, Bill. I'm actually looking for a new computer with windows 7 on it
so I guess I'd only have to copy over my .mdb files and convert them to the
.accdb files. Thanks again.

work to do before you install Win 7. Download Microsoft's Windows Easy
Transfer utility, read all the documentation and run it before you install
Windows 7. Follow MS's advise for upgrading the OS. It will save you a lot
of headaches. A good start page is at:

make some minor adjustments.
