I guess it all depends on what data you are actually pulling. Yes, there are examples of one query not working when you want the max of a field based on criteria that is not the same criteria for the other field. I've had to use 2 separate queries but there were reasons for it. If all the fields are in one table or one recordset based on a common criteria it should work.
It's a bit hard to explain without a specific example. Can you elaborate on what you are trying to do.
