[MS_AccessPros] Auto fill data fields in access

 

Hi All

Compared to you experts on this group I am relatively novice and I could
really do with some help. I am trying to use on old access table to
populate data in a new table as and when I receive it.

So an example of the old data has dogs names and parentage in it as follows
:-

ID

Dogs Name

Breed

DOB

Sex

1

Beverton Ice

Border Collie

27/07/2008

Bitch

2

Let Us Entertain You

Crossbreed

18/11/2006

Dog

3

Colimanor Billiewaul

WSD

16/11/2006

Dog

4

Skyvana Aquarius

Border Collie

30/07/2002

Dog

So in my blank database, if I enter the name "Beverton Ice" which is
obviously ID 1 the rest of the field details "Breed, DOB, Sex" are
automatically entered into the relevant matching fields in the new blank
database.

In addition, I will not have all dogs in the old database to refer to so I
must have the ability to enter new dogs data into the new list.

Can anyone tell me how I would achieve this or point me in the direction of
a good online tutorial please.
