RE: [MS_AccessPros] Multiple controls based on a single query

If I understand correctly, you are using parameter prompt type queries. IMO, these are never appropriate user interface. I would replace them with references to controls on a form. You could hide the form if you don't want users to see it. Check this link http://www.tek-tips.com/faqs.cfm?fid=6763.

Subject: [MS_AccessPros] Multiple controls based on a single query

Hello, I am creating a simple time tracking database for my department at work. To get to the main data entry form I created a simple password system where the user enters a userid and password into a form. The password form then runs a paramater query that pulls up only the records for a particular user based on the userid and password. Once the user is into the main data entry form they can add or edit records in form view, or click a "View Datasheet" button to view their records in datasheet view. As it is now, the user clicks the View Datasheet button and needs to enter their userid and password a second time to run another query. How can I base the View Datasheet button on the same parameter query that was created when the user logged in, so that when the button is clicked the datasheet appears immediately?

I put a zipped copy of my database in a folder named "PTS Time Tool" in the "Assistance Needed" folder. The file is named "TimeTool_1" I use Access 2007 and my experience level is intermediate.

Thanks,
Brad
