On the time fields I find that I do not always get start and finish times
So what I did was break this into 4 fields
1) flag - time detail (start & finish time) or work by date and hours
2) Start time or work date
3) Finish time
4) Hours worked

This works for me in that I try and track time that contractors are on site. If
I only get hours I do not want to make up data but would rather show it in its
native format. Oh the other is that when I started my project I had a lot
of legacy that was only in the date and hours format...
