I can't say what your trouble is, but I am sure anyone would discourage saving these as OLE. I don't know how many records you are talking about, but would expect that to make for an overly large and potentially troubled system. Myself, I would save only the filename and the path then use a command line call or object frame to display the selected file. I haven't done this with a Word doc but regularly handle images this way and I am sure it would work the same.
